Rhian is an avid supporter of new music by Australian artists.
So recently Rhian has been involved with the showcasing of a new opera - one that involves the Circus!
The composer Chloe Charody is based in Berlin and has took her show in 2011 to the West End (London) and Melbourne (Australia), she is finding her feet in the world of composition. 'The Carnival' has proven that singers can fly!
Over the last few weeks Rhian has been training and rehearsing along with her peers to bring this new show to life. It involves Trapeze, Lyra, Silks, as well as Dance. This kind of work requires classes every in which the all-female cast trains on this equipment, developing strength and versatility.
I would say that the hardest part is having to sing whilst up-side-down on the equipment - so most of the time you have to think of positions that don't block off your throat and make sure that you have enough breath when a high note is coming up.
